HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) – John Newman came to Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) of Hilton Head Island in 2020 to continue to build on the charitable organization’s tradition of health care for all.
Now, six years later, he is stepping aside from the organization for a different calling. It’s something he called a dream in more ways than one.
“It’s always at two in the morning,” Newman said. “Then something’s waking me up and it’s like, ‘I need you to do something.’ I don’t know why the Lord does this to us, but he finds a way to make us uncomfortable. And you think about, ‘What do you want from me?’”
That’s when Newman received a phone call.
