Here at Volunteers in Medicine Hilton Head and Daufuskie Islands, volunteers are our heart! We could not do what we do without you.
Because of this we are always looking for dedicated Physicians, Dental Professionals, Mental Health Providers, Nurses, Pharmacists, and Administrative (Lay) Volunteers to join our team. Many of our volunteers are retired professionals, bringing a wide range of skills, experience, and specialties from various careers.
I have no medical experience. Can I still volunteer? Absolutely! We need Receptionists, Greeters, Schedulers, Interpreters, and other non-medical volunteers to keep our Clinic running smoothly.
How often should I volunteer? We ask that volunteers commit to at least 3 months per year. Many come once a week, but others volunteer monthly, seasonally, or based on their availability.
I don’t live here year-round. Can I still volunteer? Yes! As long as you can commit to at least 3 months annually, you’re welcome to volunteer whenever you’re in town. You can sign up for shifts in advance.
What if I can’t make a shift? You can easily cancel or reschedule in Volgistics. If it’s within 24 hours of your shift, just email the Director of Volunteers.
Why do you track volunteer hours? Volunteer hours show the community impact of VIM and support our funding efforts. In 2023, volunteers saved the community over $13 million!
What should I wear? Clinical Volunteers: Scrubs, lab coat, comfortable shoes.
Lay Volunteers: Neat, professional clothing—no tattered jeans, short shorts, or open-toed shoes.
