A key to our ability to meet the health needs of our low-income, uninsured neighbors is providing free prescriptions for the best available medications. Typically, our pharmacy fills almost 60,000 prescriptions every year. That is the retail equivalent of $6 million dollars.
Our Pharmacy ensures that our patients receive prescribed medicines free of charge those. We are currently spending $25,000 annually to provide these prescribed medications, including inhalers for asthma and COPD, eye drops for glaucoma, implantable contraceptive devices, and injectable medications for diabetes. This means our patients have more money to use on food and other necessities because they do not have to pay out-of-pocket for these prescribed medications at a local pharmacy.
