Eligibility Requirement

To be eligible for Volunteer in Medicine Clinic, you must be a resident or employee on Hilton Head or Daufuskie Island for a minimum of 90 days in order to be eligible for services. You must also meet al of the following requirements:

Family income must be less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines

Members of your immediate family (parent, spouse, adult, child) living in the same household must reside or work on Hilton Head or Daufuskie Islands.

Does not have any injuries/conditions that are work-related or can be covered by worker’s compensation insurance.

You must have no usable medical insurance.

Documents needed for Eligibility

  1. Income Verification: All family members in the household who earn wages must provide income verification in order to determine the eligibility of each member of the household. Verification should be the most recent month of pay stubs and last year’s income tax return or notarized letters from employers on company letterhead if paid in cash.
  2. Photo Identification: Each individual must provide some form of photo identification.
  3.  Proof of Residency/Employment: Each individual applying for services must provide proof of 90 days residency/employment. Examples include a rent slip, utility bill, school registration, etc. If you are unable to provide this, you may be eligible 90 days after your initial visit to VIM Clinic.

Alternative & Emergency

Volunteers in Medicine Clinic does not offer after-hours care. There is no medical or administrative staff on duty after Clinic hours. Please see the following resources for alternative and emergency care:

Alternative Care

The Beaufort-Jasper Comprehensive Health Center and Hardeeville Clinic are alternatives for treatment.

Emergency Care

In the event of a medical emergency, you should call 911 or go immediately to the emergency department at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center.
